The old Tower of Plaka
The old Tower of Plaka is located between the village of Tripodes and the beach of Plaka. Its date of establishment has not been found yet, although the general estimation is that it was built during the Hellenistic years. Folk tradition states that the tower was inhabited by princess-fortune teller. The towers of the Hellenistic period are believed to have served defensive interests, protecting rural regions of military or economic importance, or functioned as beacon-signals, while according to another view, they were used as farmhouses or part of a farmyard.
