The Tower of Barotsi, Gratsia Fragopoulou
Another important sight of Halki is the tower which is found next to the Byzantine church of Panagia Protothroni.
It is not only impressive for its size as it is for its construction. It is distinguished for the wall that surrounds it with bastions, its scalding bowl and the suspension bridge, characteristics which made the mission of seizing it impossible even for the most ambitious conquerors.
At the grand entrance there is a crest of Gratsia Fragopoulou and the period during which it was built, 17th century, it belonged to the famous family Barotsi. Today it has been renovated, inhabited and it is a unique monument of the area.
